The screening for the 35S promoter, nos terminator and FMV promoter detects genetic elements, which originate from plant viruses and the soil bacterium Agrobacterium tumefaciens. For this reason, positive signals in the screening for the abovementioned elements could also be caused by a natural contamination by these plant pathogens. To rule out the possibility that a positive result traces back to a natural contamination, specific tests can be used for detecting these plant pathogens.
