12:30 p.m. Upcoming Issue: Changes in Consumer´s Expectations - Example Animal Welfare

The change of consumers’ expectation causes economical risks for the producer. The German Department for Agriculture and consumer protection is preparing a voluntary label for food welfare, starting with pork in 2020. Nevertheless, retailers created their own label which must be used by their suppliers. For this reason the meat industry has to be prepared to handle this programme in order not to lose clients and receive a negative press campaign.
