You work in the pharmaceutical industry and are interested in microbiological testing according to pharmacopoeia, modern methods (e.g.: rFC) and the influence of new regulations (e.g.: Annex 1) on the cooperation with a contract laboratory?

Then we look forward to welcoming you to the one-day seminar free of charge on 27.04.2023 at our location Eurofins BioPharma Testing Munich GmbH, in Planegg/Munich. In addition to a variety of exciting technical presentations, we also welcome external guest speakers from the field.

The "Microbiology" seminar day will cover the following key points:

  • New requirements for quality control due to the changes in Annex 1 and what additional tasks arise for quality control 
  • Implication of new Annex 1: Current trends in high-throughput testing of pharmaceutical water
  • Identification and typing of Micro-organisms in the Pharmaceutical industries with a focus on the Microbial identification using MALDI-Tof (BRUKER)
  • Microbiology GMP Testing Services at Eurofins BPT DACH including an outline of endotoxin testing methods (LAL/rFC) comparison studies)
  • A laboratory tour (also possible the day before by arrangement)

Experts

Arnaud Carlotti, Ph.D. HDR, President IDmyk President of Eurofins IDmyk and Eurofins BactUP as well as Eurofins BPT Biologics Lentilly, Dr. Arnaud Carlotti, PhD, HDR, manages activities for the detection, identification and typing of microorganisms by using molecular methods for clients in the bio/pharmaceutical industries. With more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Carlotti has been involved in the identification of multiple new bacterial species and has secured multiple patents for detection, identification and typing of micro-organisms by molecular methods. Dr. Carlotti earned a Ph.D. from The University of Lyon, France, a B.S. in Microbiology and Genetics from The University of Clermont-Ferrand, France. He became Assistant Professor at the Pharmacy School of Lyon in 1991 and he has published more than 30 papers in peer reviewed scientific publications. He founded IDmyk in year 2000, which joined the Eurofins group in 2013 as the excellence lab of the division for detection, identification and typing of micro-organisms.

Olaf Degen, MBA is Director Industry Microbiology at Bruker Microbiology & Infection Disease Bremen and responsible for business development of the industry sectors pharma/food/veterinary/water. Olaf earned his master in microbiology at the Free University in Berlin (Dipl.Biol.) and his business MBA degree at Kellogg-Business School of Northwestern University & WHU and has 20 yeard experience in the pharma and life science industry in different positions from the lab bench to sales & business development. Mr. Degen’s expertise includes the field of microbial testing particularly with MALDI-TOF MS, FT-IR and Real-time PCR. He is active member of two standardization groups with focus on microbiology at DIN.

Dr. Sabrina Schubert supports Eurofins BioPharma Product Testing DACH as a Business Development Manager with focus on Austria. She earned a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Würzburg, Germany, and shows years of cooperation with pharmaceutical industry with a strong focus on microbial QC testing.  Dr. Schubert’s expertise includes the field of endotoxin testing particularly with regards to comparison studies of different methods (LAL/rFC) and manufacturers.

Dr. Stephanie Löbhard is the Head of Quality Control Microbiology at Eurofins BioPharma Product Testing Munich and responsible for microbiological GMP tests at Planegg. Stephanie earned a PhD in microbiology at the Ludwig-Maximillians University in Munich and has 15 years of experience in microbiological testing of pharmaceuticals and medical devices according to GMP/GLP and ISO17025, especially testing of non-sterile products regarding microbial burden and contamination with specified microorganisms and testing of sterile products for sterility and endotoxin contaminations.

Joerg Freudenberger Joerg Freudenberger is the Managing Director of Eurofins BioPharma Product testing Switzerland AG. Joerg has 13 years of experience across multiple roles in the analytical service industry – strong customer focus led his career from Scientific Expert, Customer Service Management, Key Account Management to General Management. After joining his current role as the site leader for Eurofins‘ Swiss BioPharmaceutical operations, Joerg focussed on the process optimization to develop high-throughput capacities on ultra-pure water testing for world-leading pharmaceutical companies across Switzerland.

Jennifer Borrelli is the Head of Quality Control and QP of Eurofins BioPharma Product testing Hamburg. Jennifer has 15+ years of experience across multiple roles in analytics and quality in the vaccines and biologics sector –  her strong quality focus led her career from Quality Control Scientist into growing leadership roles in Quality Control and Quality Assurance. After joining Eurofins in Hamburg for her current role as the Head of QC, Jennifer focused on innovation and collaboration to provide robust yet flexible testing solutions, serving the diverse needs for our clients from local privately owned companies to global players in the pharmaceutical industry.
