Cell-based Characterisation Assays Webinar

Sidebar Image

Cell-based assays are an indispensable tool to characterize the functionality of biologics and biosimilars. Cultured cells offer an accurate representation of the physiological conditions in which drugs function. The main applications for cell-based assays in the pharmaceutical context are mode of action research during drug discovery, cytotoxicity analysis during drug development and comparability assessments during biosimilar development.

The free live webinar "Cell-based characterisation assays" on 14.04.2021. will provide an overview of common cell-based assays used to characterize drug effects including:

  • Antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC) assays to examine drug-mediated cytotoxic effects.
  • Cytokine release assays (CRA) and mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR) to investigate drug-mediated immunomodulation.
  • Biomarker analysis and proliferation assays to explore drug-mediated cellular effects.
  • Potency assays to compare the biological effects of drug variants.

Furthermore, the following questions will be addressed:

  • Use of primary cells vs. established cell lines: what are the key points to consider?
  • Assay development, assay transfer or use of commercial kits: what are the pros and cons?
  • Assay characterisation, qualification or full validation: which is adequate for your setting?
