Analysis of pesticides

Sidebar Image

Pesticides are active ingredients or mixtures of active ingredients that are usually applied to plants to protect them from pests. They also include storage protection agents that can be applied in the further stages of the production process of a foodstuff or food ingredient.

These substances can enter the human body via the food chain or the water cycle and therefore maximum residue levels are regulated in the individual foods.

This is what you can expect from us

Global trade in food and raw materials of plant origin requires compliance with European and international maximum residue levels regulations. Eurofins laboratories for food and feed testing in Germany are among the leading residue laboratories worldwide and have a 50-year history in residue analysis.

Relevant legal bases and guidelines

In order to protect the consumer, the legislator has set maximum levels for plant protection products, pesticides and preservatives in Regulation (EC) No. 396/2005 within the framework of the German Food and Feed Code (LFGB). Organic food in general must also comply with the maximum levels applicable to conventional food. In addition, EC organic Regulation No. 889/2008 applies.
