We offer GMO analysis packages for VLOG-compliant testing

Dec 2025. The German Association Food without Genetic Engineering (Verband Lebensmittel ohne Gentechnik e. V., VLOG) has updated the minimum requirements for analysing raw materials, feed and compound feed for genetically modified organisms (GMOs). From 1 January 2026, manufacturing companies and laboratories certified to the VLOG standard must comply with the new requirements for soy and rapeseed.

Eurofins GeneScan, the Competence Centre for GMO testing within the Eurofins Food & Feed Testing laboratory network in Germany, has updated its analysis packages to enable you to make a seamless transition and ensure that you can reliably comply with the new requirements.

VLOG responds to changes in GMO cultivation

To keep pace with the dynamic developments in the market for GMOs, VLOG is proactively updating its minimum requirements. In recent years, there has been an increase in the commercial cultivation of new GM soy and GM rapeseed events. In response to this change in cultivation, VLOG has now revised and adapted the minimum requirements for the scope of analysis for raw materials, single-component feed and compound feed.

Specific changes for soy and rapeseed

While the analysis requirements for maize remain unchanged, VLOG has updated the minimum requirements for products containing soy or rapeseed. The new requirements now mandate the detection of new genetically modified soy and rapeseed events. For soy, the increased commercial cultivation of the soy event DAS-44406-6 is now considered. For rapeseed, the detection of the MON88302 event will also be required, in order to reflect its increased commercial cultivation.

From 1 January 2026, all companies certified according to the VLOG standard must comply with these new requirements.

Updated analysis packages for VLOG-compliant analyses

From the beginning of 2026, VLOG-certified laboratories will also be required to provide analyses that meet the new minimum requirements. Eurofins GeneScan, the Competence Centre for GMO testingt within the Eurofins Food & Feed Testing laboratory network in Germany, has adapted its analysis packages accordingly. This means that you can continue to expect reliable and VLOG-compliant testing of your products from us. We actively support you in the transition to the new requirements and are available to answer any questions you may have at any time.
