Art and culture in times of a pandemic: an exhibition on its way through Germany’s second largest city

June 2021. As part of the project "Eine ART Gast", Eurofins exhibited three paintings by the artist Biraj-Kumar Mehra in the company's own Covid-19 test center from 17 May to 13 June 2021. The artworks are on a traveling exhibition through Hamburg until 12 September 2021 – from factory floors to home offices around town.

Due to the contact and opening restrictions in the corona pandemic, artists have been thinking up new ways to make their works accessible to people. The project "Eine ART Gast" pursues exactly this goal. Within the framework of a traveling exhibition, paintings and sculptures by artists from the “Galerie der Villa” are exhibited at various locations in Hamburg.

The "Galerie der Villa" is the studio and project space of the Elbe-Werkstätten Hamburg, a workplace for people with disabilities. People can become artistically active here, develop their artistic skills and present their works in exhibitions. The latter is currently not possible in the gallery due to the Corona pandemic – which is how the idea for "Eine ART Gast" came about.

From mid-May to mid-June, Eurofins was given the privilege of hosting a total of three works by artist Biraj-Kumar Mehra on the company's premises in the south of Hamburg. The Covid-19 test center, which is used by employees from all departments of the company, was chosen as the exhibition venue for the paintings. "We are very happy to be able to provide a space for artistic exchange as part of the project and to give visibility to these great works," says Oliver Främke, Managing Director of Eurofins Food & Feed Testing Germany.

The "Galerie der Villa" photographs all of the artworks at their respective exhibition venues and shares the resulting photos on its website as well as on social media, allowing art enthusiasts to view all of the works in the various settings from afar.
